Alternative to Blocket Bostad
Blocket Bostad no longer exists. In autumn 2025 Blocket wound down its housing category: the rental part was fully taken over by Qasa on 21 October 2025, and on 18 November 2025 the housing category closed, removing Sweden's largest channel for selling a home privately without an agent. Here is where each part of Blocket Bostad went, and which alternatives exist in 2026.

What happened to Blocket Bostad?
Blocket Bostad was long two things in one: Sweden's largest marketplace for second-hand rentals, and the obvious channel for private individuals who wanted to sell their home without an agent. In 2025 it was split up. Rentals moved to Qasa: since 21 October 2025 anyone who wants to rent or let out is sent automatically to Qasa's platform, and existing listings, conversations and rental agreements were transferred there. On 18 November 2025 Blocket then closed the housing category entirely.
For the rental market there is therefore a designated successor. But for anyone who wanted to sell their home privately, something disappeared that was never replaced: Blocket was in practice the only broad marketplace where a private individual could advertise their home for sale without appointing an agent. Hemnet only publishes listings through estate agents. The table below shows where each use case went.
| You wanted to… | How you did it on Blocket Bostad | Alternative 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Sell a home without an agent | Private sale listing in the housing category | SökHem: free listing, bidding, viewing booking and prepared purchase contract; agent help as an optional add-on |
| Let out second-hand | Rental listing through Blocket Bostad | Qasa (took over Blocket's rentals) or SökHem's rental section |
| Find a rental home | Searching among rental listings | Qasa, municipal housing queues, and a watchlist on SökHem |
| Find a home to buy from a private individual | Browsing private listings | SökHem: the watchlist matches you against private sales that are never advertised on the portals |
What do I use instead to sell without an agent?
This is the gap Blocket left behind. Selling your home privately is fully legal in Sweden, but without Blocket most people lack a marketplace to do it on: Hemnet requires an agent, and Booli and Boneo are search services and agent portals where private individuals do not list themselves. SökHem is built for exactly that use case: you post your home for free with photos and floor plan, get exposure to buyers whose watchlists match the home, handle viewings and bidding in the service and prepare the purchase contract digitally ahead of signing on paper. If you want help with parts of the deal, for example an agent or a lawyer writing the agreement, you add that as an option instead of paying a full agent commission. What do I use instead of the rental part?
Rentals are the only part of Blocket Bostad that got an official successor: since October 2025 Qasa runs Blocket's entire rental marketplace onward, with rental agreements, deposits and protected payments. Anyone looking for a rental home should therefore have Qasa on the list, together with municipal housing agencies. SökHem also has a rental section where landlords list for free, and a watchlist on SökHem catches rental homes that match your requirements when they appear.
Can I still buy a home from a private individual?
Yes. Private sales did not disappear when Blocket closed, they just became harder to find. Deals without an agent are still closed, but without a gathered listing place they happen more often directly between a seller and an already interested buyer. That is exactly the matching SökHem does: you describe what you are looking for once, and when a private individual posts a home that fits your profile you are matched, whether or not the home ever appears on a portal. Frequently asked questions
Is Blocket Bostad closed?
Yes. The rental part was taken over by Qasa on 21 October 2025, and on 18 November 2025 Blocket closed the housing category entirely: housing listings can no longer be posted or shown on Blocket.
Where did Blocket's rental listings go?
To Qasa. Listings, conversations and rental agreements were transferred automatically, and bostad.blocket.se forwards to qasa.com.
Where can I sell my home privately now that Blocket is gone?
On SökHem you post your home for free and sell with or without an agent, with bidding, viewing booking and prepared purchase contract built in. Hemnet is not an alternative for private listings, since listings there are published through estate agents.
Does it cost anything to list your home on SökHem?
No, the listing is free and commission-free. You only pay for optional add-on services you choose yourself, such as agent help with the contract.
